West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative is regulated by a range of bodies to ensure that we are following legislation, providing high quality services and meeting the needs of our members, tenants and service users.

As a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) we are required to submit various information relating to our performance and financial management on an annual basis. This ensures that we are providing high quality, customer focused services that demonstrate value for money all whilst meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.

How we achieve this is monitored by the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) or “the Regulator” who “safeguard and promote the interests of current and future tenants of social landlords, people who are or may become homeless, and people who use housing services provided by registered social landlords (RSLs) and local authorities”. 

For tenants and residents the regulatory Framework of the SHR allows you to report any complaints and serious concerns, review all of the information the Regulator holds on us and compare our performance to other housing organisations. We are also required to provide annual returns to Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Annual Return on the Charter

Each year we complete an Annual Return on the Charter (ARC for short) and submit this to the SHR. It is our duty to produce this report to enable tenants and other service users to see how we are performing against the Charter. It includes statistics on homes and rents, value for money, neighbourhood management and repairs and maintenance.

Engagement Plan

The SHR publish an Engagement Plan for each landlord. This sets out the information that we are required to submit, what we need to do, and how and why the SHR will engage with us.

Annual Assurance Statement 

Each year we are required to submit an Annual Assurance Statement to the SHR by 31st October. This statement confirms that we comply with the relevant requirements of the regulatory framework.

Financial Information 

The majority of our income comes from rent. Other income streams include government and community grants, loan funding and income from our energy centre.
