District Heating Network | Funded by Energy Company Obligation funding, Scottish Government Warm Home Fund loan funding and European Regional Development grant funding. The main boiler plant consists of a 740kW wood chip biomass boiler, which operates in conjunction with a 50,000-litre water tank known as a thermal store and 3 x 1400kW gas back up boilers. The boilers heat the water in the tank which is then circulated to the 543 homes connected to the system through a network of pipes. It then heats radiators and hot water in the homes via thermal transfer using a heat interface unit. | £6.5 million | |
