Fair Work First

West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative (WWHC) Limited employs around 29 staff to carry out the day-to-day running of the Co-operative. As an employer, WWHC takes its duties very seriously to ensure that all staff are treated fairly and responsibly throughout their employment with us. We are a full member of Employers in Voluntary Housing (EVH) where there is a collective bargaining agreement with Unite the union in place. This agreement covers topics like pay, grading structures and terms and conditions of employment. 

What Is Fair Work First?

Fair Work First is the Scottish Government’s policy to drive high quality and fair working practices for workforces within Scotland. The policy does this by setting criteria that organisations are encouraged to adopt and from 1st July 2023 organisations applying for public funding have to demonstrate their commitment to the principles and make this publicly available on their websites.

How Do We Comply?

A joint statement has been agreed between EVH and Unite to confirm that the standards set within the EVH arrangements for full member employers comply with the fair work criteria. The Co-operative is committed to adhering to the requirements of this joint statement.
